We are back in Istanbul at cruise end. We arrived yesterday amidst thunder and lightning and very heavy rain showers. It cleared a little overnight and this morning we have a moderate breeze and the odd light sprinkling. The weather is best described as moody.
The crew were on hand under Assistant Maitre’D Andrew seen above grappling with his Seabourn Brollie to assist our guests to the terminal a short walk away.
Having left Izmir on the 4th we steamed back to the Dardanelles and took on our pilot to transit the waterway. Before we arrived there was a chance for our guests to come along and enjoy some caviar in the surf. Well actually in the pool but we enjoyed the occasion nonetheless. It is another Seabourn special and brings many of the guests together for a spot of fun around the pool.
As I write there is a suggestion of sunshine poking through the leaden sky. The forecast is so so but there is evidence it could be brightening up. Many of our guests in transit to next cruise are out taking in the history of this magnificent city and a little sunshine would not go amiss.
As for the crew and I…It is all hands to the pump as we get the ship ready for our new guests who will embark in a little over 2 hours for the cruise to Athens.
